In Romania, almost 648.000 people have been vaccinated in Romania so far, of which 194.000 also had the booster.
Most vaccines that were performed came from Pfizer-BioNTech, and the rest from the Moderna company.
The administration of the third vaccine approved at European level, the one produced by AstraZeneca, in collaboration with Oxford University, would also start next week. 81.600 doses have already arrived in Romania. Appointments can be made starting February 10.
In Romania, the authorities have decided that this vaccine should be administered only to people between 18 and 55 years of age, in two doses, eight weeks apart. The serum has an effectiveness of almost 60%.
Romania wants and has the capacity to produce its own vaccine against COVID-19 at the Cantacuzino Institute - said Prime Minister Florin Citu, yesterday, when he received the booster dose. He mentioned that the authorities have already begun talking with representatives of the European Commission.
