Aircraft of Romanian Air Force heads to Albania for assistance

Romanian Minister of National Defense, Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, has approved that two Romanian Air Force aircraft can take off today heading to Albania, having onboard an Urban Search and Rescue Team (RO-USAR) from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, with specific equipment and intervention technique.
52 Romanian specialists will carry out search and rescue missions for people caught under rubble in the area affected by the earthquake that occurred on Tuesday morning, November 26th.
Departure to Albania is expected today, around 3 pm.
Mission will be executed at the request of the Head of the Emergency Situations Department within the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs, following receipt of request for international assistance submitted by the Albanian Government through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, informs the Ministry of Defense (MapN).
