RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - On the agenda of the first meeting of the Executive in 2024 was included a memorandum from the Ministry of Justice arguing that disputes arising from mandate contracts concluded by state-owned companies in Romania should be settled in the country, as well as decisions and draft laws, including an initiative to optimise the process of issuing passports.
Reporter: Andrei Serban: "The draft law drawn up by the Government and which will be sent to Parliament for debate and approval ensures a concise and clear character to the General Directorate of Passports' task of certifying the quality of Romanian citizen, in cooperation with other institutions. In order to optimise the process of issuing travel documents, it is envisaged that the General Directorate of Passports will be able to verify the collection of the amount representing the value of simple passports and to refund it in cases where it has been paid in error or the related service has not been provided. Another draft law adopted by the Government today transposes European Union rules into the law on international judicial cooperation in criminal matters and the Code of Criminal Procedure. Among other things, it concerns procedural safeguards for children who are suspects or accused persons in criminal proceedings. Another decision amends the state budget funding of natural risk maps for earthquakes and landslides.
