Consequences of the Turkish military intervention in northeastern Syria is one of the topics on the agenda of the current European Parliament plenary sitting in Strasbourg (21-24 October). Situation in Iraq, but also a possible enlargement of the European Union is also in the attention of the House.
RRA Special Envoy to Strasbourg, Cristian Matei: Tuesday debates have opened with a plenary address by the Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini,talking about the consequences of Turkey's military operations in northeastern Syria. Federica Mogherini will also have an intervention in the afternoon, this time regarding situation in Iraq after recent manifestations of young people and students who were violently repressed. Also today, MEPs will vote on the draft budget of the Union for next year and will receive the report of the Court of Auditors (ECA) for 2018. There will also be debates about EU enlargement. Representatives of the European Commission and the Council of the European Union are expected to express their views on the start of accession negotiations with Northern Macedonia and Albania.
