The presidential candidates received total contributions of more than 122 million lei and spent almost 110 million lei on election campaigns, according to the income and expenditure reports submitted to the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).

PSD spent the most, more than 56 million lei, more than all the other candidates put together, Calin Georgescu and the New Romania Party spending the least, i.e. zero, according to the declaration.

13 of the 14 presidential election contenders spent less than they received in contributions. Only one party exceeded its budget and was left with a debt of about 1.600 lei, the Alternative Party for National Dignity.

PSD spent more than 56 million lei, while the campaigns of all the other 13 candidates combined barely amounted to 53 million.

PNL spent more than 17 million lei, USR around 16, Mircea Geoana - 9, AUR - 6.7 and UDMR - 1.7. Six candidates spent less than 500.000 lei each, while Calin Georgescu and the New Romania Party reported zero campaign expenses.

The Permanent Electoral Authority will verify, within 30 days from the date of the elections, compliance with the legal provisions on revenues and expenditures, as well as the legality of campaign financing.

The results of each check will be published on the Authority's special website, finantarepartide.ro.
