MEPs gave the go-ahead for a European minimum wage, which will take account of changes in economic and social indicators.
According to the draft, the gross minimum wage should be between 47% and 52% of the average wage in the economy.
The Chamber of Deputies also adopted a bill exempting pensioners from having to pay back money overpaid due to errors in the recalculation.
Amendments to the Administrative Code were also approved today.
The Chamber of Deputies adopted, as the decision-making body, the draft law on the establishment of an adequate minimum wage, transposing a European directive in this field, which applies equally to those working in the public and private sector.
According to the document, the minimum gross basic salary guaranteed by the national minimum wage is to be set annually, with periodic updates, and will be applied from January 1, by government decision, after consultation with nationally representative trade unions and employers.
The government's 2019 emergency ordinance on the Administrative Code also received a positive vote, to which USR unsuccessfully demanded the repeal of the article on the basis of which local elected officials are granted old-age allowances upon termination of their mandate.
Ionut Mosteanu, USR MP: In two months' time, special pensions for former mayors and former county council presidents will come into force. Other barons, other mayors who have kept communities underdeveloped will receive special pensions.
The reply came from Social Democrat Marius Budai.
Marius Budai: USR, when they were in power, with the Minister of Justice, said 'it is not possible that the service pensions will be eliminated'. When they were in power it was not possible, now, from the opposition 'but it's an election campaign'.
Also, pensioners will not have to pay back the extra money they received this year when recalculating their pensions because of errors for which they are not responsible, according to another bill passed by the Chamber of Deputies.
