A little over 16 million inhabitants, out of the 19 million that Romania has, according to the data of the last census, declared their ethnicity. Of these, almost 90% are Romanian, 6% Hungarian and 3.4% Roma.
The ethnic groups with more than 20.000 people registered are Ukrainians, Germans and Turks, according to new data published today by the National Institute of Statistics.
Also, over 85% of the citizens who declared their religion are Orthodox, 4.5% Roman Catholic and 3% of the Reformed religion.
The same data show that the youngest population of the country lives in Ilfov county, and in Teleorman there are the oldest residents.
