According to a statement, the Foreign Ministry reiterates its protest against the renewed violation of Romania's airspace, in the context of last night's identification and tracking by the Romanian Army radars of a drone that entered Romanian airspace and left the national territory towards Ukraine.
Romania calls for an end to the attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and the irresponsible escalation by Russia of the security situation, including on Romania's border with Ukraine, the statement said.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations has sent alerts to Tulcea and Constanta counties after the Russian military launched powerful drone strikes on Ukrainian civilian targets near the border with Romania. The Ministry of National Defense has informed its allies and is in permanent contact with them after one of the drones flew over Romanian territory.
Defense Ministry spokesman, General Constantin Spinu: Since 2:25 a.m., two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86 Borcea Air Base to monitor the air situation. In the course of these events, the radar surveillance system identified and tracked the path of a drone that had evolved in the national airspace and left the national territory towards Ukraine. The situation of this drone's evolution was also monitored by the two F-16 aircraft which returned to base at around 4:08. The data available at the time indicated the likelihood of an impact zone on national territory, in an uninhabited area in the vicinity of Periprava. Since this morning, the Ministry of National Defense forces have been carrying out searches in the area with air and ground teams.
