8.3 million participants contribute to 17 private pension funds

In Romania, the private pension market reached in the first nine months of 2021 total assets of over 90 billion lei, increasing by 25% compared to the similar period of the previous year. According to a report by the Financial Supervisory Authority, their share in the Gross Domestic Product is about 8%.
Almost 8.3 million participants contribute to the 17 private pension funds, and at the end of September the average value of an asset in Pillar II was over 11.200 lei.
