Mountain rescuers across the country have rescued 40 people in an interval of 24 hours, 18 of whom were transported to the hospital by SMURD ambulances. The mountain rescuers from Busteni and Lupeni had the most calls.
There is a high risk of avalanches until this evening in the Southern and Eastern Carpathians, where the snow layer measures between 62 and 173 cm, the thickest snow carpet being at Balea Lac. Risk is rated 3 out of 5 at over 1.800 m in the Fagaras, Bucegi, Rodnei, Parang Sureanu and Tarcu-Godeanu mountains.
Mountain rescuers draw the attention of tourists to have adequate equipment, not to climb the ridges and to walk only on specially designed routes.
