3.000 Ukrainians have sought asylum in Romania

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, about 230.000 Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania and 170.000 have left.
Of those who remained in Romania, 3 thousand Ukrainians applied for asylum.
They shall enjoy all the rights provided for in national law.
Thus, throughout the procedure, asylum seekers can benefit from accommodation in the centers of the General Inspectorate for Immigration, if they wish, as well as measures of material, financial, medical assistance, specialized psychological and legal counseling, access to the labor market and cultural adaptation activities.
According to official data, the occupancy rate of the General Inspectorate for Immigration centers is currently 66%.
