The European Union Cohesion Fund invests nearly 270 million euros in four major water infrastructure and water management projects in Romania, which have been approved by the European authorities.
In Botoşani County, 47 million euros will be invested to expand and modernize the current drinking water distribution and waste water treatment system. For similar projects, the Hunedoara and Timiş counties will receive around € 11 million each.
The most consistent sum will reach Ilfov County, on the outskirts of the Capital, where the European Union will invest nearly 200 million euros to clean up and improve the wastewater collection system for one and a half million inhabitants.
European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Creţu, says these projects reflect a Europe that cares both for the welfare of the citizens and for the protection of the environment.
