Constantin Brâncuşi, world-famous sculptor of Romanian origin, is a perfect illustrator of the entire Romanian landscape, life and heritage, in both material and spiritual dimension (..)”, says Romanian Academy President, Ioan-Aurel Pop, on the occasion of “Brancusi Day”, celebrated each year internationally on February 19th.
"Constantin Brâncuşi embodies the entire Romanian world in its material and spiritual dimensions, succeeding, through his genius, to project it in the universe.
Column of Endless Gratitude, Apostles’ Table, Gate of the Kiss, all part of Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși at Târgu Jiu, place the artist among the heroes of the Romanian people, despite the fact that in his lifetime, Romanian authorities treated him harshly, says the President of the Academy in a statement for Agerpres.
"Marble, stone, metal, but especially wood melt into ancestral forms of this people and this land (…). His works in Paris and all the works left outside of Romania, from Paris to Philadelphia and from Chicago to Venice, place Constantin Brâncuşi among the few world-class sculptors, receptive to all art lovers beyond space and times.
His message springs from inside the soul of the Romanian people", states President of the Romanian Academy, Ioan-Aurel Pop.
