140 years since the inauguration of Peles Castle

It is 140 years since the inauguration of Peles Castle, and to mark this, the Custodian of the Romanian Crown Margareta hosted a special event, on Friday evening, in the State Dining Room of the Royal Palace in Bucharest.
Prince Radu reviewed the history of Peles Castle, which he said was confused with the history of the country.
Prince Radu: There is something that must be said every time: that very few places on the European continent store in them so many pages from the tragic or sometimes fortunate events of our modern and contemporary history. Our strategic alliances today with important countries of the European Union, such as Germany or France, with the United States of America, with Great Britain and then with Spain or Italy, were neither born after 1989 nor invented by the governments that followed. These foundations were laid then, in 1880, by our ancestors.
Also on this occasion, the State Mint launched the medal 140 years after the inauguration of Peles Castle, and the first copy was handed to the Custodian of the Crown, Her Majesty Margareta.
