Romanian soldiers deployed in Iraq will be temporarily relocated to another Coalition base, for security reasons, and training and advisory missions they had with the Iraqi army have been interrupted – Romanian Ministry of Defense announces.
Decision was taken following yesterday's decision by the North Atlantic Council Meeting at ambassador level to temporarily suspend training mission of Iraqi troops, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Romanian troops are ready to resume missions in accordance to evolution of the situation in the area, Defense Ministry says.
As President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, announced earlier, he is watching very carefully the developments in the Middle East and is very concerned about the security of the Romanian soldiers in Iraq, as well as of the other compatriots who live and work in the area.
