139 Afghans arrived in Romania, aboard a Tarom aircraft

139 Afghans out of the 156 evacuated by the authorities from Bucharest arrived in Romania last night, on board a Tarom aircraft.
Upon arrival, the Afghans were greeted by Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu. He promised them that they would be helped to lead a safe life in Romania.
Bogdan Aurescu: I told them that the Romanian authorities will do everything we can to offer these friends of Romania, hard tried by fate, decent living conditions and the chance to start over. Another 17 Afghan citizens, who were supported by the Romanian authorities to leave the territory of Afghanistan safely, and who have already received assistance from Romania through visas and letters of support, chose to continue their journey by other means to their final destination. Some of them will arrive in Romania in the next period.
The crisis cell will continue to process the requests for support registered from Afghan citizens - Minister Aurescu assured. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will be responsible for housing and including Afghans in integration programs.
