€ 129 million from the EU Cohesion Fund will be invested in Romania for six projects to facilitate access to safe drinking water.
European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Creţu, says project financing is a concrete example of European solidarity, and hundreds of thousands of Romanians will benefit from drinking water every day.
All regions should have access to clean water, but in Romania and other regions of Europe this is not yet fully realized, Commissioner Corina Creţu said in a statement.
The six projects aim at improving the sewage treatment system in Bacău county, the water and sewerage networks in Braşov and Hunedoara counties, improving water quality and environmental protection in Tulcea County, as well as expanding and refurbishing the drinking water infrastructure in Vâlcea.
