120 Romanian soldiers of the Braşov-based 228th 'Piatra Craiului' Air Defence Battalion are heading to Poland, to participate in a US-led NATO battlegroup during September 2017-March 2018.
The departure ceremony was held on Thursday at the Battalion headquarters.
The Romanian troops will have the mission to ensure, on a rotational basis, the NATO enhanced forward presence in the northeastern part of the Alliance territory, to deter any possible aggression, in line with the measures adopted at the NATO Summit in Warsaw.
The Braşov-based troops will replace their fellow servicemen from the Craiova-headquartered 205th "Gen. Gheorghe Pârvulescu" Air Defence Battalion who served in the previous six-month rotation, according to RRA correspondent Nicolae Jalea.
