10 tonnes of pyrotechnic articles confiscated following searches

Approximately 10 tonnes of pyrotechnic articles were confiscated following 14 home searches of people suspected of operations with such products carried out without a right, and one for non-compliance with the weapons and ammunition regime.
The searches were made in recent days in the Capital and in 13 counties.
On New Year's Eve, when firecrackers and fireworks are in high demand, police warn that they can be dangerous if the instructions on the packaging are not followed and that some of the pyrotechnic articles can only be used by qualified personnel.
Mihai Lefter, Chief Commissioner, Capital Police: When we purchase pyrotechnic articles we must make sure that they are labeled and inscribed as belonging to the F1 or P1 categories. The other categories, the higher ones, due to the risk involved in their use, are intended to be used by specialized personnel, namely, pyrotechnicians. Moreover, the possession by people who are not authorized or do not have a pyrotechnic certificate is a sanction punishable between 5.000 and 7.500 lei, and the sale of all pyrotechnic articles made by unauthorized individuals or legal entities is a crime. In this situation, of course, a criminal case is drawn up.
