1.087 new cases of people infected with COVID-19

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 1.087 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were registered, these being cases that had not previously been confirmed positive.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 763 people were reconfirmed "positive".

Between 15.08.2020 (10:00) - 16.08.2020 (10:00) there were 37 registered deaths of patients infected with the new coronavirus (25 men and 12 women), hospitalized in Arges, Bacau, Bihor, Botosani, Brasov, Buzau, Calarasi, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Gorj, Hunedoara, Iasi, Maramures, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Suceava, Vaslui and Ilfov.

Out of these, 8 deaths were recorded in the age category 50-59, 10 deaths in the age category 60-69, 11 deaths in the age category 70-79 and 8 deaths in the category over 80 years old.

36 of the registered deaths were of patients who presented comorbidities, and for one deceased patient no other diseases or infections have been reported so far.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is now 7.359. 479 of them are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units.
